The Bible teaches us that if we refuse to forgive those who have hurt us on earth, then our father in heaven will refuse to forgive us of our sins. That’s a frightening scripture and it reminds us of the importance of forgiving others who hurt us. We want to be an excellent example for our children to mirror. However, prayer can help us go the extra mile and help our children in the long run. Below is a prayer for your child to live free from the trap of unforgiveness.
For Boys
Lord,
I pray for You to strengthen (name of child) to be ever forgiving.
Your word teaches us that we are to forgive those who trespass against us because You’ve forgiven us.
Shower him with Your forgiveness so when people do wrong to him, he’d share the forgiveness he’s experienced with them.
Allow him to understand that when people hurt him, it’s really You that they’re sinning against.
Give him the strength to forward all troubles to You through faith and let go of those circumstances of wrongdoing.
Share revelation with him about the truth of forgiveness- that it sets him free.
Also, I pray he’d forgive himself when he makes mistakes.
Teach him how to move on from trying situations with Your grace to do what’s correct next time.
Don’t allow him to hold onto feelings of bitterness, anger, and resentment toward others or himself.
Let him be a mouthpiece for You in sharing the life-changing power of Your forgiveness and may he walk in Your will of being forgiving to others.
Help me to be the role model I need to be in showing him how to forgive.
Thank You for all You do.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
