About Samhain
Samhain was a tradition celebrated by the ancient Celts. Today, Samhain is celebrated October 31-November 1. The people who celebrate it believe the barriers between the physical realm and the spiritual realm are the thinnest on that day. Therefore, the ancient Celts would expect that spiritual beings would crossover to the physical realm that night.
In an attempt to blend in and not be kidnapped, the ancient Celts would dress as animals and monsters. Their religious leaders, the druids, would attempt to contact spiritual beings. They would perform (animal and human) sacrifices to these beings.
The druids would go to various homes asking for children to be human sacrifices. If the family complied, the druids would place turnips or potatoes with the face of a demon on their doorstep and light them. When the spiritual beings would pass by, they would know not to attack that house with “tricks” because they already sacrificed a “treat”.
The tradition of Samhain began to mix with other cultures in Europe and eventually made its way to America in the form of Halloween.
Did you know? David Berkowitz, AKA “The Son of Sam Murderer” confessed that he was following the orders of someone named “Sam.” Sam told him to kill. He was a part of a demonic occult in New York and confessed that these murders were actually “sacrifices.” You can read a very thorough, in-depth book about him online for free. Scriptures About Witches, Wizards, Mediums, Sorcerors, & Necromancy
“You shall not permit a sorceress to live.”
– Exodus 22:18
“A man or a woman who is a medium, or who has familiar spirits, shall surely be put to death; they shall stone them with stones. Their blood shall be upon them.”
– Leviticus 20:27
“When you come into the land which the Lord your God is giving you, you shall not learn to follow the abominations of those nations. There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, or one who practices witchcraft, or a soothsayer, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer, or one who conjures spells, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead. For all who do these things are an abomination to the Lord, and because of these abominations the Lord your God drives them out from before you. You shall be blameless before the Lord your God. For these nations which you will dispossess listened to soothsayers and diviners; but as for you, the Lord your God has not appointed such for you.”
– Deuteronomy 18:9-14
In these scriptures, we can clearly see that God has zero tolerance for those who practice witchcraft and seek out demonic spirits. God expresses that He wants His people to have nothing to do with it. If that’s the case, why do believers attempt to justify participating in a holiday that is the “holy eve” (Halloween literally means holy eve) for witches, wizards, necromancers, and Satanists?
The Halloween season is the time of the year when horror films and shows consume the TV guide, when plastic cauldrons can be bought at the dollar store, and people go to “haunted houses” and “haunted hayrides” for ‘fun’. This kind of stuff is forbidden in the Bible, yet for some reason, Christians think God doesn’t care about them participating in a holiday dripped in so much Satanism.
Demons Have Real Power
Just one of the many reasons why Christians have to avoid Halloween customs is because we cannot minimize the reality of demonism and witchcraft. The enemy has real power. That’s why so many powerful figures openly worship Satan and perform witchcraft ceremonies. For biblical proof, let’s look at what happened when Moses attempted to show Pharoah the power of the true, living God.
“So Moses and Aaron went in to Pharaoh, and they did so, just as the Lord commanded. And Aaron cast down his rod before Pharaoh and before his servants, and it became a serpent.
But Pharaoh also called the wise men and the sorcerers; so the magicians of Egypt, they also did in like manner with their enchantments. For every man threw down his rod, and they became serpents. But Aaron’s rod swallowed up their rods.”
– Exodus 7:10-12
God commanded Aaron to throw down his rod and when he did, it became a serpent. However, Pharoah called in magicians and they were able to do the same exact thing. Using the power of demonic spirits, they were able to transform a rod into a serpent.
“And Moses and Aaron did so, just as the Lord commanded. So he lifted up the rod and struck the waters that were in the river, in the sight of Pharaoh and in the sight of his servants. And all the waters that were in the river were turned to blood. The fish that were in the river died, the river stank, and the Egyptians could not drink the water of the river. So there was blood throughout all the land of Egypt.
Then the magicians of Egypt did so with their enchantments; and Pharaoh’s heart grew hard, and he did not heed them, as the Lord had said.”
– Exodus 7:20-22
God commands Moses to strike the river waters. When he did, the water turned to blood. Pharoah was unimpressed and summoned the magicians. They were able to do the same exact thing using the power of demonic spirits.
“So Aaron stretched out his hand over the waters of Egypt, and the frogs came up and covered the land of Egypt. And the magicians did so with their enchantments, and brought up frogs on the land of Egypt.”
– Exodus 8:7
Aaron stretched out his hand and frogs came and completely covered the land of Egypt. Then, the magicians were able to do the same exact thing using the power of demonic spirits.
Therefore, we can clearly see that demonic spirits and Satan have real power to offer individuals who are willing to receive it. This power does not come from God Himself. That’s why we must separate ourselves from this kind of wickedness unless we want to find ourselves in demonic trouble.
Satanism In America
America was founded on biblical principles and the individuals in its society knew the importance of the wisdom found in the Bible. However, America is being actively stripped of its biblical values and an increasing amount of Americans have no idea what the Bible says. Even in the church, it’s evident that many people do not understand the dangers of the things God warns His people to stay away from. American Christians are performing abominations and sins within the church and appear to have no form of conviction about it.
Americans have been sold Satanism in the form of movies, music, and other sorts of ‘entertainment’. Evil doesn’t even hide anymore. It’s bold and has crept into almost every aspect of society. There are some Christians who recognize it and do a good job at exposing this wickedness, but there are many others who attempt to justify it.
Because of the high amount of sin in secular music, I see no good reason why Christians should listen to it. The same goes for television. It’s almost impossible to monitor everything your child is exposed to on live television. I believe it’s better to go without live television and find another way to watch stuff on TV.
There’s so much Satanism going on in the entertainment business, I might do a separate post talking about it. However, most Christians know exactly what I’m talking about so I don’t feel the need to go deeply into it right now.
Where Do Halloween Costumes Come From?
Samhain was a tradition celebrated by the ancient Celts. Today, Samhain is celebrated October 31-November 1. The people who celebrate it believe the barriers between the physical realm and the spiritual realm are the thinnest on that day. Therefore, the ancient Celts would expect that spiritual beings would crossover to the physical realm that night.

Where Does The Jack-O-Lantern Come From?
During the ancient Celtic tradition of Samhain, the druids would go to various homes asking for children to be human sacrifices. If the family complied, the druids would place turnips or potatoes with the face of a demon on their doorstep and light them. When the spiritual beings would pass by, they would know not to attack that house with “tricks” because they already sacrificed a “treat”.
The Demon Of Fear
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”
– 2 Timothy 1:7
Just like the above scripture implies, there is a spirit of fear. Have you ever felt fear so strongly that it grips you down to your soul and you feel almost paralyzed by it? Fear is nothing to play with and can hinder your walk with God in many ways.
Everything about Halloween revolves around a spirit of fear. Have you ever been to a Spirit Halloween store? (Also, isn’t it ironic that the name is Spirit Halloween?) While in that store, have you ever had the thought that any of the items give glory to God? Of course, not. It’s full of fake ghouls, ghosts, demons, devils, and all sorts of creepy things. Not to mention, the logo itself has a huge demon on it. It’s not hard to figure out that it’s all evil.
“Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever? And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said:
“I will dwell in them
And walk among them.
I will be their God,
And they shall be My people.”
Therefore
“Come out from among them
And be separate, says the Lord.
Do not touch what is unclean,
And I will receive you.”
“I will be a Father to you,
And you shall be My sons and daughters,
Says the Lord Almighty.”
– 2 Corinthians 6:14-18
The first demon I ever saw was the spirit of fear. You can read about that experience here. One simple way to protect yourself and your children from this spirit is to not expose yourself to it during the Halloween season. Pray against this spirit because it will try to ensnare as many as possible during this season.
Did you know? Practicing witches and warlocks pray over the costumes and candies in the stores. Therefore, if you’re going to buy candy for your kids for the Halloween season, you may want to buy it a month or so sooner.
Conclusion
Jesus came to give us life (John 10:10). Therefore, why would you even consider participating in something that glorifies death? Not to mention, everything from the costumes, pumpkin carving, and even the term “trick or treat” come from demonic origins. It’s Satanism of steroids. Halloween literally means, “Holy eve.” Yet, it’s not a holy day set apart for the true, living God.
The enemy has real power and the best way to protect yourself from evil is to rid your house of anything that symbolizes demons and pray that God will cleanse your home from any demonic spirits. Don’t open the door for Satan and don’t participate in something so blatantly evil.
