Ways To Grow In The Spirit

The Bible has this reoccurring theme: the Spirit versus the flesh. There are many scriptures that tell us if we live by the Spirit, then we will overcome the lusts of the flesh. However, there are still professing Christians who are ruled by the flesh. I want people to conquer their flesh and live a life full of the Holy Spirit and walk in wisdom and close connection with God. In this post, I’ll share ways to grow in the Spirit that you can apply to your own life and reap many rewards.

“For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.”

– Romans 8:13

All scriptures are from the NKJV unless otherwise noted.

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

– 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Sure, this may seem like a no-brainer. But how many people exist who know they should pray but don’t? Too many. Prayer is something we have to make a habit or else we will forget to do it. Life has a way of bombarding us with issues that we forget to step outside of ourselves at times. Read more

Things To Express Praise And Thanks To God For

things to express praise and thanks to God for

There’s no doubt that God is great to His people. He’s always faithful to us. He loves us. Therefore, there are so many things we can praise and give thanks for. Yet, it can be difficult to express your gratitude if you don’t know what to thank Him for. Luckily, there are many things to be thankful for once you begin looking. You can use this post as a guide if you need to in order to begin giving praise and thanks to God every day.

All scriptures are taken from the NKJV unless otherwise noted.

“Behold, I will bring it health and healing; I will heal them and reveal to them the abundance of peace and truth.”

– Jeremiah 33:6

There’s no doubt that good health is a gift from God. Therefore, it only makes sense to praise Him if you’re in good health. Even if there’s an issue with your health, your life is valuable so you can always thank God that you’re alive.

Being sick is a horrible feeling. Every day that you wake up feeling great is a day you should praise and worship God for your health. Having a body that’s in good health and works great makes life more enjoyable.

Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord,
The fruit of the womb is a reward.
Like arrows in the hand of a warrior,
So are the children of one’s youth.
Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them;
They shall not be ashamed,
But shall speak with their enemies in the gate.”

How Thanksgiving Will Transform Your Relationship With God

thanksgiving will transform your relationship with Christ

Thanksgiving is one of the most enjoyable ways to transform your relationship with God. It’s easy, practical, simple, and helps us honor and worship God. There are many ways giving thanks to God will change our lives.

If you notice, the subheadings express that we’ll grow in many of the fruits of the Spirit by giving thanks to God. This is true. In Matthew 17:6, Jesus tells us is to look for the fruits people are bearing. That’s how we will know who belongs to God and who doesn’t- not by their words.

We should want to grow in the fruits of the Holy Spirit found in Galatians chapter 5. In this post, I’m going to explain how something as simple as thanksgiving can help us grow in those areas.

You’ll Grow In Love

Expressing thanks and praise to God is a great way to boost your happiness. When you’re happy, you tend to treat people better. It’s easier to express love and kindness to someone when you’re not having a bad day. Our problems suck us in and make it almost impossible to reach out to others in their best interest. Therefore, by spending time meditating on all the wonderful things God has done for us in our life, we will be preparing ourselves for future interactions will others. Read more

You’ll Be Happier

If you want to increase your wealth in happiness, you can instantly do so by expressing thanks and gratitude to God. There’s so much we can be grateful for. For one, we have the truth of God that saves our souls and redeems us from the evil one. The blood of Jesus is a gift we do not deserve and meditating on that gift is sure to make your day better.

Other than the precious blood of Jesus, we all have some material possession that God has given to us that we can be grateful for. I know how truly blessed I am to have clean water, plumbing, a car, a home with a sound roof, an air conditioner for the summer, a heater for the winter, a microwave, a refrigerator, and so much more. These are just the basics, but there are many people in the world that don’t have these things. Read more

Praise should be a part of our every day lives. People become dissatisfied with their lives when their attention goes from what they do have to what they don’t have. We will always have unfulfilled desires, but we shouldn’t allow it to forget all that God has already done for us. There are so many things to praise God for, including your health, friends, family, being alive, work, and so much more. That’s why I created this list of scriptures about praise. I pray you find them helpful to you.

Don’t forget, only you can express your thankfulness to God. No one else can do it for you.

Scriptures About Praise In The Old Testament

“Sing to the Lord, all the earth;

Proclaim the good news of His salvation from day to day.
Declare His glory among the nations,
His wonders among all peoples.

For the Lord is great and greatly to be praised;
He is also to be feared above all gods.
For all the gods of the peoples are idols,
But the Lord made the heavens.”

– 1 Chronicles 16:23-26

Now therefore, our God,
We thank You
And praise Your glorious name.”
