The Ten Best Joyce Meyer Books For New Christians

It was the summer of 2012 when my brother shared the gospel of Jesus Christ with me which led me to become born again through the Holy Spirit’s power. After that, I got hooked on reading the Bible, listening to sermons, and reading Christian books. My mother recommended that I check out a preacher named Joyce Meyer. I really enjoyed the way she taught about self-growth and discipline and am grateful for all I’ve learned from her.

While I don’t listen to her sermons anymore, they were such a help to me when I was a new Christian. I still have quite a few of her books and I would definitely recommend a few of them to beginner Christians who need a strong foundation in how to treat others as a believer. I’m going to share with you the ten best Joyce Meyer books for new Christians. All of these books helped me grow into a better, more mentally stable Christian.

Battlefield Of The Mind

This book is one of her most successful and for good reason. Many ways the enemy attacks is through the mind of people. If he can control their mind, he can control their life. I would definitely recommend this book because I truly believe it can have a lasting, powerful impact on the reader if they take it seriously. I’ve bought multiples of this book and handed them out to various people throughout my walk with God. I currently don’t have it in my library, but will eventually get it again to share with my children.

God Is Not Mad At You

Before and after I got saved, I worked at KFC. That was my first job when I turned sixteen and I stay there for three years. During that time, I met an older Christian lady (I mean way older. She retired during my last year). She witnessed my transformation from a nonbeliever to a believer and would share wonderful stories about what God has done for her.

One day, she brought me this Joyce Meyer book. I read and reread that book many times and I still have it. It’s an amazing book for a baby Christian. Its main theme is that God loves you no matter how many times you mess up. Therefore, you should love yourself too.

This is important because many people are too hard on themselves. They think something is wrong with them if they keep making mistakes, but that’s just part of being a human. Everyone makes mistakes, but God loves you and won’t abandon you.

There are many cute stories in this book. One of my favorites is about a handicapped puppy that can’t walk. The person giving away the puppies expressed that no one would want the puppy and was confused when someone walked up and fell in love with it. When he asked why, the person pulled up their leg revealing a prosthetic leg. He saw the beauty in that puppy and God sees the beauty in you, too!

Power Thoughts
This book was one of my absolute favorites! Knowing that the battlefield takes place in the mind, this book gives you twelve powerful thoughts to meditate on. I loved this book so much that I ended up buying the entire bible study action plan that comes with many cd teachings, a workbook, and a small, carry-along book with power thoughts in it.

I still have the bible study and would totally recommend it to a new Christian. Such a good book!

Making Good Habits Breaking Bad Habits

If you’re struggling with bad habits, then this book would be truly eye-opening for you. One of the key things I took away from reading this book is to focus on the good. That’s why the title is not, “Breaking Bad Habits Making Good Habits,” but it places making good habits first. The Bible says, “Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” (see Romans 12:21)

Therefore, it makes sense that making good habits would automatically diminish the bad habits in your life. Also, it includes 14 new behaviors you can add to your life that would benefit you and enrich your walk with God.

Change Your Words Change Your Life

I absolutely love to learn about the power of words. This book is all about that topic and how changing the way you speak will directly change the quality of your life. If you want to begin glorifying the Lord with your words, this book will teach you how to let go of bad saying and adopt good ones. For example, one of the tips she teaches in this book is to replace the words, “I’m worried,” with “I trust God.” Trusting God is the cure for worry so by using your mouth to reject worry, you’ll be able to leave worry behind and finally become free from it.

Also, in the back of the book, there are a collection of scriptures for when you need help in a certain area. Some of those include when you need healing, financial help, or when you’re feeling lonely or rejected. I would definitely recommend you consider adding this book to your home library.

The Secret Power Of Speaking God’s Word

While we’re on the topic of speaking words, I’m going to share with you another one of my favorite books by Joyce Meyer that teaches about the power of words. This book is so valuable to me and I’ve given this one out to people as well. If you’re in a mood to learn, this may not be the book for you. That’s because this book is nothing but scriptures!

The table of contents lists every type of situation you may be going through. There are so many to choose from, but I’ll share some with you straight from the book:

  •  Anger
  • Anointing
  • Anxiety and worry
  • Compromise
  • Confidence
  • Contentment
  • Depression
  • Determination
  • Faith
  • Fear
  • Forgiveness
  • Health and healing
  • Seeking God
  • Stress

Okay, I think you get the point. There are dozens to choose from. When you turn to that section, there are dozens of scriptures modified for you to speak about yourself and your life. It turns the scripture into one that you can own and directly relate to.

I used to use this book every day to speak God’s Word over my life and think it’s such an important book for any believer.

What Are You Going To Believe?

You’ll notice that a lot of the books I’m recommending have to do with the power of the mind and words. That’s because I truly believe that if everyone could control their mind and mouth, they’d be able to defeat the enemy every single time without delay. This book contains more scriptures for different areas of your life.

The contents ask you what are you going to believe about God, yourself, your relationships, your life, your future, overcoming difficulties, your finances, and healing. If you flip to any one of those categories it shares with you the truth of what God’s Word says about it and scriptures to prove it.

For example, if you flip to what the Bible says about your future it tells you to say this out loud, “I will not be anxious about my future. Instead, I will be filled with anticipation of what God is going to do in my life.” Then, it provides multiple scriptures for you to be confident that it’s true. Under that, it lists nine scriptures including Psalm 119:116-117, Romans 15:13, and Psalm 125:1-2.

I believe this book can be good for believers of all ages, including children and teens. You’re never too young or too old to know what the Bible says about you!

You Can Begin Again

This is one of the rare books I got as soon as it was released and I loved it. Its theme is centered around an idea that I believe is so important which is “Never give up.” Life is hard and sometimes you make mistakes. That’s normal and you should never abandon your dreams or give up on something God has called you to do because of mistakes you have made. This book includes many stories of people who have failed their way to success and it’s such a valuable mindset to obtain that no matter what, you’ll succeed in the end.

You can always begin again if you fail and if you never give up, the victory is surely yours.

The Mind Connection

The Mind Connection is another book about the power of the mind. This book explains how every single word you speak and action you take originates as a thought in your mind. Therefore, if you want to change the direction of your life, you have to change the thoughts you’re thinking.

Learn to master your thoughts and renew your mind with the power of the Holy Spirit and I have no doubt that you’ll be able to have the life God intended you to have.
