To Grow In Your Faith
“So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
– Romans 10:17
Every time you read the Word, your faith grows. If you want strong faith that weathers every storm, then you need to be sure you’re spending quality time in the Word daily. The faith you have will be your shield during your spiritual battles (Ephesians 6:16). I can’t overestimate how important it is to read your Bible and allow it to become a part of your Spirit.
To Live In Obedience To God
“Teach me, O Lord, the way of Your statutes,
And I shall keep it to the end.
Give me understanding, and I shall keep Your law;
Indeed, I shall observe it with my whole heart.
Make me walk in the path of Your commandments,
For I delight in it.”
– Psalm 119:33-35
Jesus teaches that if you love Him, you will keep His commandments (John 14:15). However, how can you keep those commandments if you have no idea what they are? To properly obey God, you must thoroughly know what He expects of you.

To Gain Wisdom
“The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul;
The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple…”
– Psalm 19:7
True wisdom comes from God (James 1:5). The people who live in this world without God think they’ve acquired wisdom, but they’ve only acquired worldly knowledge. God can teach anyone who is willing to submit to Him and learn His ways. If you begin spending quality time with God, you’ll be amazing at the things He’ll show and expose to you in the Spirit.
There are times when I see something in the physical realm, but instantly, I can tell there’s more going on in the spiritual realm. The Spirit of God shares these things with me, but everything is backed up by scripture.
To Properly Discern Good From Evil
“Your word I have hidden in my heart,
That I might not sin against You.”
– Psalm 119:11
Just today, I was thinking about the scripture that says, “Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil.” (Isaiah 5:20) Every day, I’m amazed that people are so confused about good and evil. It’s almost like we’re living in George Orwell’s 1984 novel. We’re living in a world that men are called women, obesity is called healthy, and murdering children is called healthcare. People believe whatever the government and corporations tell them even if you show them evidence proving otherwise. How easy is it to find a “fact-checking” website that perverts the truth in such a way as to convince you that it’s a lie?
In my opinion, there’s no other way to know for sure that something is good or evil than to have scripture backing it up. The Word of God is the gold standard. There is no other moral authority but God alone.
To Live In Success
“This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.”
– Joshua 1:8
Life has a way of working itself out for those who are called by God according to His purpose. You may not ever have a perfect life, but you can do your very best wherever you are with what you have. You can be sure that if you do what you can, God will give you favor and do those things that you cannot do.
To Have Joy
“The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart;
The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes…”
– Psalm 19:8
The Bible teaches that the joy of the Lord is our strength (Nehemiah 8:10). True joy comes from knowing who God is and trusting in His character. However, how could you know God and His character if you don’t read the Word? That’s why spending time studying the Bible should be a top priority.
God will give you rest and peace, but only when you spend time in His presence.
To Know What Steps To Take
“Direct my steps by Your word,
And let no iniquity have dominion over me.”
– Psalm 119:133
Everyone’s life is different. Therefore, the only way to truly know which steps are the proper ones to take is to get clarity from the Holy Spirit. The more you read God’s Word, the more the Holy Spirit within you grows. By reading the Bible every day, you’ll be able to correctly hear God’s voice when He wants to lead you.
“A man’s heart plans his way,
But the Lord directs his steps.”
– Proverbs 16:9
To Find Deliverance
“Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
– John 8:31-32
I’ve met people who have lived with demonic entities influencing their lives and the lives of their loved ones and they had no idea. It’s evident to me, but the reason they couldn’t see it is that they’re ignorant of what the Word of God teaches. By studying the Word, you’ll become more equipped to fight the enemy because you’ll be able to recognize His attacks. He has no new strategies, but the ones he currently uses works well against those without the Holy Spirit.
To Live In Peace
“Great peace have those who love Your law,
And nothing causes them to stumble.”
– Psalm 119:165
If your Spirit and mind are not full of what the Word of God says, you’re going to be full of what the world says. The world cannot offer you salvation, joy, or peace. These things only come from God. The more you study the Word and become fluent in it, the more peace you will have.
“Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”
– John 14:27

To Live In Purity
“How can a young man cleanse his way?
By taking heed according to Your word.”
– Psalm 119:9
The Word of God cleanses you and renews your mind. Both of these things are necessary in order for you to live a holy life. Hebrews 4:12 states, “For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” No matter what your life looked like before you got saved, you can be sure the Lord will shape you into His representative in the world.
